the most holistic and cutting-edge physical therapy practice
in Central Vermont
At GMCF PT, our approach is different from other standard physical therapy clinics.
We believe in addressing all facets of your care. We consider biological, psychological, and sociological factors that make up who you are.
We help you get better and stay better by empowering you with strategies and education that foster resiliency and provide you with long-term relief. GMCF PT does not treat you as though you have mechanical parts that need “fixing.”
We save you money and time. We provide you with higher quality care in fewer visits to get you back in action and focusing on the things you love to do.
We focus entirely on your goals and how they fit into your life.

Dr. Kerry McCarthy, PT, DPT, CF-L1
Kerry is passionate about helping you find new and creative ways to rehabilitate injuries and build a foundation for improved physical performance. Since 2009 she has worked in Central Vermont helping recreational athletes, high school and college athletes, military personnel, and the broader community overcome the pain, frustration, and fears that are often associated with physical injuries.
As an athlete herself, she has personal experience with injury, surgery and all the emotional states that accompany the temporary loss of one’s ability to participate in the activities that define them. She works diligently to create individualized rehab plans consisting of research-based stepping stones that build toward your goals.
Kerry is skilled at helping you adopt a mindset of resilience when recovering from injury. A mindset of resilience decreases time spent in rehab and provides you with the skills to better address or avoid future injuries.
In addition to working as a PT at GMCF, Kerry coaches several of GMCF’s functional fitness classes. She developed the functional fitness class, Fit4Life to expand the reach of functional fitness in the Central VT community. She practices what she preaches and carves out time for herself in the gym weight lifting and working out alongside her community members in GMXFIT classes.
When she’s not at GMCF, Kerry enjoys taking advantage of all the outdoor recreational opportunities available in VT with her family.

Dr. Melanie Custodio PT, DPT
Melanie helps people reconnect with their bodies through supporting injury healing, as well as long-term well-being. Her approach to physical therapy integrates orthopedic care with nervous system awareness, meaning that it’s not just “how you move” but also “how it feels to experience your body” with movement and everyday life. She prioritizes you as a whole-person at the center of your care, and offers a space where you can openly share your concerns and work together towards your health goals.
Melanie has been offering compassionate rehabilitative care in Central Vermont since 2018, and has extensive experience working with a wide range of orthopedic conditions. Her background in strength training, yoga and somatics allows her to touch on all areas of the movement spectrum, and weave movement with breath and body awareness. She recently completed continuing education with Herman & Wallace and is now beginning to work with individuals with simple pelvic floor conditions. She hopes to expand this clinical interest to support people along their perinatal journey.
Outside of clinical practice, Melanie loves connecting with others through food, dance and singing in this small but vibrant Vermont community. She considers it to be a privilege to live alongside neighbors who support each other with so much care, and her wish is to amplify that care in return.
